Halogens in Seaweeds: Biological and Environmental Significance

چکیده
Many marine algae are strong accumulators of halogens. Commercial iodine production started by burning seaweeds in the 19th century. The high content certain has potential pharmaceutical and nutritional applications. While metabolism brown is linked to oxidative metabolism, with iodide serving function an inorganic antioxidant protecting cell thallus surface against reactive oxygen species implications for atmospheric chemistry, rather little known about regulation homoeostasis other halogens general ecological biological role algal halogenated metabolites (except organohalogen secondary metabolites). present review covers these areas, including significance seaweed-derived context human diet physiology. Furthermore, understanding interactions between compound environment, anthropogenic impacts, effects on ozone layer global climate change, reviewed together natural products as bioindicators halogen radionuclides.

A new series of N-[2-(1H-1,2,3-benzotriazol-1-yl)ethyl]-4-(substitutedphenyl)-3-chloro-2-oxo-1-iminoazetidine, compounds 4(a-j) were synthesized. The structures of all the synthesized compounds were confirmed by chemical and spectral analyses such as IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and FAB-Mass. The compounds 4(a-j) were screened for their antibacterial, antifungal and antitubercular activities and gave ac...

Extracts of four species of seaweeds, Ulva lactuca L. (green), Liagora farinosa Lamouroux (red), Padina pavonia L. and Turbinaria ornata Turn (brown), were screened for their antimicrobial, and antimalarial activities, and binding affinity for human opioid receptors. Phytochemical analysis led to the isolation and identification of 10 constituents: fucosterol, stearic acid, palmitic acid, palmi...
متن کاملBiological and Clinicopathological Significance of Cripto-1 Expression in the Progression of Human ESCC
Background: Human Cripto-1, a member of the EGF-CFC family, is involved in embryonic development, embryonic stem cell maintenance, and tumor progression. It also participates in multiple cell signaling pathways including Wnt, Notch, and TGF-β. Remarkably, it is expressed in cancer stem cell (CSC) compartments, boosting tumor cell migration, invasion, and angiogenesis. Although Cripto-1 is ...
